We at Vasko Dodge are very excited about the Cash for Clunkers program formally known as CARS, Car Allowance Rebate System.  We are aware that the program allows many people to trade in less fuel efficient cars on new more fuel efficient, safer and with our cars a lifetime warranty.  If after reading the information shown below

 

President Obama signed into law a program the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is calling the Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS). This is a federal program that helps you purchase a new, more fuel efficient vehicle when you trade in a less fuel efficient vehicle.

 

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW

• Your vehicle must be less than 25 years old on the trade-in date
• Only purchase or lease of new vehicles qualify
• Generally, trade-in vehicles must get 18 or less MPG (some very large pick-up trucks and cargo vans have different requirements)
• Trade-in vehicles must be registered and insured continuously for the full year preceding the trade-in
• You don't need a voucher, dealers will apply a credit at purchase
• Program runs through Nov 1, 2009 or when the funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.
• The vehicle that you are trading in is required to be destroyed. Therefore, the value you negotiate with the dealer for your trade in is not likely to exceed its scrap value. The law requires the dealer to disclose to you and estimate of the scrap value of your trade-in vehicle.

 

HOW IT WORKS!!

 

1.   Visit cars.gov to determine if your trade qualifies and to review current rules.

2.   Visit Vasko Dodge and pick out your new vehicle.

3.   Bring with you proof of continuous registration and insurance coverage for the past year.  (Old registration cards and insurance cards, bills or the like.)

4.   We will credit your purchase the correct amount ($3500 or $4500) and submit the required paperwork.

5.   You enjoy your new car!

6.   In about ten days we will receive the credit amount from the government after they have verified all information.
